Day 1

Vassieux
ARRIVAL

Arrival day! Transfers are included in the price of your trip from Valence TGV station. Staying at a holiday cottage in Vassieux village you will meet your tour guide and the rest of the families.
Day 2

Font d’Urle
FONT D’URLE – PAS DU FOLLET
Font d’Urle is the perfect place to learn about the geology of the Vercors and to discover the native Alpine wildlife. You will walk up to the plateau of the Pas du Follet with stunning scenery across undulating meadows and the mountains beyond. Observe marmots in their natural habitat and learn about their adaptation to cope in the extreme mountain environment.

Day 3

Rochers de la Sausse
COL DE LA BATAILLE – ROCHERS DE LA SAUSSE
We begin at Col de la Bataille and follow a gentle track on the edge of the Rochers de la Sausse cliffs. Impressive views on the Plateau d’amble and the Ombléze valley. Your guide will lead you to the secret arch of Rucla, a stunning geological formation carved by millions of years of erosion! Finally, we will stop at the Gardiol refuge which was used by the French resistance during World War 2.

Day 4

Rest Day
Rest day! Unwind, relax and recharge your batteries for the next leg of your adventure! There’s an optional tour to visit the museum of the Resistance of Vassieux to learn how the natural landscape acted as a formidable fortress to halt German forces during World War 2.
Day 5

Gorges de la Bourne
MEAUDRET – GORGES DE LA BOURNE
Starting in the village of Meaudret, we will walk through a beech forest up to the edge of the Bourne canyon, a deep 1000 metre limestone valley carved by the river. The perfect location to learn about the geology of it’s formation from erosion over millions of years.

Want to spend a night in the wilderness? There’s an option to spend a night in a remote corner of the Hauts Plateaux under the stars in a bivouac. We would highly recommend as it’s a truly unforgettable experience!

Day 6

Habert de Ramées
LANS EN VERCORS – HABERT DE RAMÉES
Starting at Lans en Vercors, we will follow a gentle forest track up to the eastern ridge of the Vercors massif. Once on the ridge, you will enjoy mind-blowing views across the rugged Alpine landscape including the Ecrins, Mount Blanc and Grenoble valley. Learn the about the geology of the valley and its formation by glaciers during the quaternary era over 2 million years ago!

What to expect

A relaxed walking holiday especially designed for families.

Discover the Secret Alps has been designed especially for families with children aged 5-12. Walking across undulating meadows and gentle slopes activity time per day is around 2-3 hours. After activities, there will be plenty of time to relax with your own family or with the other families in your tour group. Accommodation is included in your trip and is family friendly.
